Course requirements: Laptop computer (Photoshop and Lightroom software can be provided on a short term basis if the student doesn’t yet own it. If you are using a laptop provided by your employer, be sure it can have this software installed on it.)

Shooting a photo is only half of what makes a great photo. Editing it, done in a computer today, is the other half. Why be only half of what a good photographer needs to be?

Learn the Photoshop and Lightroom technique you will likely want to use. This is the easiest and clearest system, with illustrations and step-by-step procedures. Your confidence will rise as you add to your fullest understanding of photo editing. Become familiar with and willing to use expert creative techniques. Use them to change your image into anything you may want, such as combinations of many images. Learn to create original fantasies and discover how the program possesses its own intelligence to prompt your inner creative spirit. Reveal ideas in your images that your eyes could never find on their own. After this course, you will find your shooting will alter to reflect your new skills using Photoshop and/or Lightroom.

• Standard editing such as sizing, cropping, and image adjustments of color, contrast and all other standard techniques used in photography
• Use each technique and know how it effects the image’s emotion, drama, impact, story and dynamics,
• Use techniques that influence the mood of light and make good use the image’s virtual space
• Learn standard editing to alter composition and emphasize the compelling quality of your image
• Learn to use layers and blend modes to find entirely new ways to reveal you images’ “inner” life, finding the image’s specialness you never knew was there,
• Add images together or put parts of one into another seamlessly
• Create panoramas and serialized images
• Add motion where none existed and a variety of notions to manipulate time
• Use layers to create new fantasies and realities from the camera’s original images,
• Make your image into a painting or hand color it
• Clone people and fix their skin blemishes, take years off your subject’s age and learn fashion photo techniques
• Communicate by adding text and other visual details, then use the results on the internet, Facebook, website, and your own photo album or book
• Learn to use the new SYNTH program to create compound, 3D images as CNN demo’d for the first time in the Presidential Inauguration
