Lawrence welcomes commissioned assignments anticipating that they may require a theme, style, and other guidance required by the commission.  These works met the ideas of the commission yet were instinctual imaginative concepts by Lawrence.  Typically this type of commission evolves from an idea to an image more like how a painter works.  In other words an image is conjured up from imagination then the photographs are made and montaged complete that vision.  The impetus to work this way came from Lawrence’s artist father, Anthony whose mural work adorned the walls of hotels and government buildings in the 1930s – 1960s.  Thus these works are mural like and very large to fill  walls.
